ABOUT ME
Born and raised in West Texas, I admit we have a certain attitude out here in the Chihuahuan Desert. We live under a brutal sun and ridiculously unpredictable weather We had a night of MINUS TWO degrees last February! In 1994 we had a HIGH temperature of ONE HUNDRED SIXTEEN degrees.
Most everything in the natural world wants to HURT us! Grass burrs, goat heads, prickly pear cactus, scorpions, rattlesnakes, droughts, and sandstorms. And there’s a nasty assault on your sense of smell. (What IS that disgusting odor? Hon, that’s the smell of MONEY!}
Such is life in the oil patch.
But here’s the thing: to survive, we must be strong. And we have to have a work ethic as unassailable as our determination to live well out here. You’re in real trouble if you can’t get through the booms and busts. We party like nobody’s business when things are good; when the bust hits (And we know without a doubt it will.), we grit our teeth and go ahead on.
That’s how I was raised, and that strength and work ethic is just part of who I am.
At the age of twenty-seven, I had a serious bust of my own. I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. So, for the last 41 years, I’ve gritted my teeth and pushed through. And in doing that, I’ve learned all kinds of stuff about Durable Medical Equipment, or DME. I know the key words people use who are looking for help, because I’ve been that person.
MS is a stupid disease. Its course can’t be predicted from one person to the next. About the best prognosis a physician could give back when I was diagnosed was to expect a life of increasing disability.
So, over the first few years, I went from canes to walkers to scooters. Each of those items came in different shapes, sizes and with different features. I had to get specific about what I was looking for, and that meant using key words.
I figured out that I needed grab bars around the bathtub and shower. I had to learn a whole new vocabulary to find exactly what I needed. And that vocabulary gives me the ability to scatter key words throughout your website.
That’s what web crawlers are searching for. When the web crawlers find the key words your potential customers use, search engines give your website a higher ranking.
